Storefront Pictures serves as the production arm of Storefront Film Group, an independent studio formed to finance the production of female-genre, audience-driven feature films, as well as television and other media productions.. Susan Cartsonis, its founder, created Storefront because she believes that there is a large market for smart, high-quality films that appeal to female audiences and that the independent production of women’s films presents a significant opportunity for investors. The recent success of movies such as The Duff, Divergent, 50 Shades of Grey, The Hunger Games, The Twilight Saga, show that films that appeal to female audiences can generate significant revenues. That audience has, however, consistently been underestimated and underserved.
The mission of Storefront is to economically produce profitable films that tell compelling, entertaining and character-driven stories that appeal to the female audience, which men like too. To further this goal, Storefront is creating a special fund to underwrite such projects and assembled an Advisory Board of experienced industry executives and artists to guide its endeavors.
